Magnesium chloride

Uses of Magnesium Chloride:

1. Metallurgical Industry:

Used to manufacture refractory materials and binders for furnace linings, and serves as a raw material for producing No. 2 flux and smelting metallic magnesium.

2. Chemical Industry:

Primarily used to produce various magnesium salts, such as magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, as well as stabilizers for firecrackers, and also as a raw material for antifreeze agents.

3. Building Materials:

Combined with magnesite (MgO) to form hard and corrosion-resistant magnesium oxychloride cement, which can be used to make artificial marble, magnesite tiles, floors, ceilings, decorative panels, fireproof boards, greenhouse supports, partition boards, magnesite manhole covers, bathtubs, door and window frames, and prefabricated houses.

4. Mechanical Industry:

In daily life, magnesite can be used to produce mechanical packaging boxes, triangular cushion edges, and furniture, making it an excellent material for "replacing traditional materials with soil."

5. Food Industry:

Tofu coagulated with bittern (magnesium chloride solution) is tender and flavorful compared to tofu coagulated with gypsum. It is also used as an additive in certain foods.

6. Transportation Industry:

Used as a deicing agent for roads, with fast ice-melting speed and low corrosiveness to vehicles, outperforming sodium chloride.

7. Medicine:

Processed magnesium chloride, known as "dried bittern," can be used for medicinal purposes.

8. Agriculture:

Can be used to produce magnesium fertilizers, potassium-magnesium fertilizers, and cotton defoliants.

9. Fire Protection:

Used in the production of fire-resistant and flame-retardant materials. Soaking wood and panels with bittern (under heating and pressure) significantly enhances their flame resistance. Also used in the production of fillers for fireproof materials.
